Whether it be a pandemic, all hazard incidents or natural disasters communities must seriously consider the potential impact to their communities, businesses and health care needs before disaster strikes.
We must be ready to support our 911 dispatchers, first responders, health care professionals, public works personnel, government and private corporations and simultaneously providing support for the families of those who are called to duty so the emergency personnel can perform their duties without worrying about the safety of their families.
How skilled are communities, counties and federal government agencies with establishing a strong incident management framework in a manner that it flows well and seamless? Will we have the necessary resources when our front line heroes need it? Where will it come from and how long will it take to get here?
All this can be accomplished through pre-incident planning, immersive simulation and practice.
